Ermes

Illustration / Branding / Brochure / Typography
The refugee crisis that began in 2015 resulted in a plethora of desperate and helpless people arriving along the edges of countless Greek shorelines. Numerous of those people are still here, having suffered immense trauma and in a state of limbo. 'Ermes' is a project initiated by the non-profit organisation 'Greek Forum of Refugees' that is intended to inform refugees on the benefits of mental health care and to form a bridge, between not only them and the mental health care workers but also the language interpreters that act as mediators between them. An informative brochure, interpreted in five languages, together with a set of posters that act as an introduction to the benefits of psychoanalysis, are disseminated in the seminars initiated by the Forum. The illustrations, through the use of colour and repetitive minimalist forms, depict icons of nature blended with harsh visuals such as barbed wire, creating a sense of calmness and an invitation to analyse the meanings behind them. The intentional hyper-minimalist depictions of the human form, mainly as a bird's eye view, act, not for the purpose of anonymity but to create the perception of oneness.
